User Data Deletion

Scan2Connect (operated by GrowSpeak Education Services LLP) respects your right to control your personal data. This page explains how to request deletion of your account and associated data, what gets deleted, what we are legally required to retain, and how long the process takes.

1. How to Request Deletion

You can request deletion of your Scan2Connect account and personal data using either of the methods below:

Option A — From your account

Log in to your Scan2Connect dashboard and contact us from within the app, or write to us from the email address registered on your account. Verifying your identity from the registered email speeds up the process.

Option B — By email

Send an email to support@scan2connect.in with the subject line "Data Deletion Request" and include:

  • The registered name on the account
  • The registered phone number or email
  • (Optional) The reason for deletion — helps us improve the service

We will acknowledge your request within 48 hours and complete the deletion within 30 days, subject to the legal retention exceptions noted in Section 3.

2. What Gets Deleted

When we process your deletion request, the following data is permanently removed or irreversibly anonymised:

  • Account profile — name, email, phone number, profile photo, password hash
  • Vehicle records — registration number, vehicle type, linked photos
  • Emergency contacts saved on your account
  • Professional / business profile content, photos, and pending changes
  • Lost & Found and Emergency profile data linked to your account
  • QR codes are deactivated and unlinked from your identity
  • WhatsApp message history sent on your behalf is dissociated from your account
  • Scan logs older than the retention window (12 months) are deleted; recent scan logs are anonymised by stripping owner identifiers

3. What We Are Legally Required to Retain

Indian tax and accounting law requires us to retain certain transaction records even after account deletion. The following data is preserved for the periods stated:

  • Invoices and payment records — retained for 8 years under the Income Tax Act, 1961 and the GST Act, 2017
  • Razorpay transaction IDs — retained alongside invoice records for audit trail and refund eligibility
  • Records subject to active legal hold, dispute, or regulatory inquiry — retained until the matter is resolved

Retained records are stored under strict access control and are not used for any purpose other than legal compliance.

4. Timeline

  • Within 48 hours — we acknowledge receipt of your request
  • Within 7 days — we verify your identity (we may ask for additional confirmation if the request comes from an email different from the one on the account)
  • Within 30 days — deletion is complete and we send you a confirmation email

5. Third-Party Platforms

Scan2Connect integrates with third-party services to deliver core functionality. When you request deletion, we remove your data from our own systems, but data held by these providers is governed by their own policies:

  • Meta (WhatsApp Business API) — message delivery metadata is governed by Meta's data policies. To delete data from Meta's side, refer to Meta's help centre.
  • Razorpay — payment records are retained per Razorpay's PCI-DSS obligations and Indian financial regulations.
  • Google (OAuth) — if you signed in with Google, the OAuth link is severed on deletion; your Google account itself is not affected.

6. Effect of Deletion

Once your account is deleted, your Scan2Connect QR codes stop resolving to your contact information — scanners will see a "deactivated tag" page. Any pending scheduled messages are cancelled. You will not be able to log in or recover the account after deletion, and a deleted account cannot be restored. If you want to use Scan2Connect again in the future, you will need to register a new account.
